A Wolf brother has opened a cafe in Carnegie to rave reviews. If you’re in the area and looking for the best coffee or a quick meal you should definitely stop into Platform 3. A cool design and vibe with great food and drink- what more could you want in a cafe? Platform 3 is located at the corner of Koornang Rd & Egan Streets in Carnegie. A nice hang out for the Wolf Team so we may even bump into you there.

At Wolf architects we encourage our team to have many interests in areas outside of architecture. We should be more balanced as individuals with broader and more flexible minds. While great architects receive design awards, a Wolf Architect will often receive awards outside of the industry for things such as charity, athleticism, or other creative pursuits. Evelyn recently received a Premiers award for graphic design and Ariana (our youngest designer) received a very special principals award. Last week our Chief Architect Taras Wolf received a 1st place award for his 1970 Mercedes at the annual European Car show held at Flemington Racecourse.  The attention to detail in restoration, cleanliness and originality were all important judging factors. That’s a great achievement considering that the car is his daily driver.

Waste is a word we hate at Wolf Architects. Waste of space, waste of energy, waste of money, and waste of time, these are the things we must avoid. The biggest waste however, is neither of the aforementioned. The biggest waste in our view is when a carefully designed, finely constructed building is prematurely renovated or demolished. As architects, we understand that the making of a building requires months of careful study to ensure its proper function far into the future. So to intentionally destroy a well made construct would be to throw away the pride of all who worked so carefully to create it. All the energy, all the money, all the time, and all the effort destroyed. To us, that is the biggest waste and something we try to avoid at all cost.

Last year we perfected the Wolf Éclair. But this year we collaborated with Heather to create the ultimate Wolf Cookie! Using her secret family recipe, Heather now makes these delicious shortbread biscuits that are brain food for the Wolf Team! The next time you visit us, you can expect some lovely Wolf Cookies served with hot tea. Thank you Heather!

These two words are rarely seen in a phrase. The general public is led to believe that architects are expensive. This can be very convincing due to the simple fact that most people don’t fully understand what architects do. Nor do they often know the product they are paying for. The truth about the profession is that we architects don’t sell cheeseburgers!

Architects are actually more like restaurant chefs preparing well-crafted meals made of the finest ingredients. The Architecture profession is one that consists of professional designers who understand the ingredients of a space, specially trained to brew designs that fit each client’s unique living experience.

As architects, we are well equipped with the building process, taking good care to avoid costly mistakes. Being fully aware of a building’s lifecycle, we are capable of reducing maintenance costs, energy costs, and ultimately adding value and longevity to a worthwhile investment. So in the end when people realize that we don’t sell cheeseburgers, they start to appreciate the wholesome goodness that comes with dining at an architect’s.

That’s right! Summer moved on… and it’s autumn now. While we have had some very cool mornings we still refuse to turn on the heating. Part of the reason is because we feel a bit cheated like there weren’t enough warm days this summer, so we are waiting for more. And the other reason is because as energy conscious architects we hate using electricity unless it is absolutely necessary.
Call it self-torture if you want, but deep down we are actually savouring nature the way it is. We love nature as it is! And this ritual serves as a reminder to respect the Earth by feeling it. So for now we have decide to stay cool!
