Beach front paradise…

Located on one of the last private beach fronts this project was 5 years the making. The project consists of individual houses scattered throughout a natural forest and a Club House with shared facilities located right on the beach front.

Originally this project was conceived as one in which shipping containers were to be converted into bungalows. This however proved to be more costly and time consuming and thus the concept changed to be steel framed houses, still based loosely around the singularity in shape and space of a shipping container. As most of the houses would be used as a holiday escape they were designed to be more like large hotel suites as opposed to a conventional home. In working with the sloped terrain each house has a significant front edge that cantilevers over a Corten clad retaining wall. Each house has a view to the sea and a viewing balcony that surrounds the cantilevered front edge.

The project was designed to be developed in three phases; The first consisted of the individual houses, allowing owner occupants to move in right away and enjoy the beauty of the location. Following this was the club house and common facilities which include various sports and leisure stations. The main building has two multipurpose function rooms with operable ceiling skylights. The 3rd and final stage was the Luxury villas to be carefully nestled into the mountain side at the rear, each one with a private pool and views to the sea.

The landscaping was particularly important and the Architects worked together with the environmental authorities to ensure as much protection to the natural forests as possible throughout the process. Thus all houses are sited in between and around the major trees. Very little new plants or vegetation was introduced in favor of what already exists. Large boulders from the excavation of the footings are scattered around as natural sculptures.
