Happy Chinese New Year.

As an international practice, we have clients who reside in China and are now enjoying the traditional 15 days of lunar new year celebrations and customs. During this time WOLF Architects are still hard at work in our Melbourne office creating some great new building designs for all of our clients.

Whilst the Gregorian calendar new year celebrations were all the way back on January 1st, the period of the Chinese lunar new year in 2018 runs from February 16th to March 2nd. The timing of the Chinese new year is based on the Chinese lunar calendar which is associated with the movement of the moon. The New Year festival is centuries old and associated with several customs and myths. Chinese new year is one of the most celebrated festivals in the world. It is customary for to families gather for a reunion dinner on the eve of the new year, causing one of the largest mass migrations of humans, with people flying across the globe to reunite.

Each lunar year is associated with one of 12 animal signs, 2018 is the year of the dog, the 11th zodiac animal. The defining characteristic of a dog being loyalty, dogs will never abandon their friends, family or work. As wolves are members of the dog family, we hope that this year brings good luck to our wolf pack.

WOLF Architects wishes all of our clients celebrating Chinese new year all the best for the year of the dog.
