Led by founder and artistic director Taras Wolf, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our new YouTube channel, Music_by_Wolf. By combining decades old original compositions with the power of Artificial Intelligence, we are releasing an incredible catalogue of music designed to inspire creativity, atmosphere, and emotion.

Creativity Beyond Architecture
At Wolf Architects, creativity has never been limited to buildings alone. The same design philosophy that shapes luxury homes, spatial experiences, interiors, lighting, and atmosphere also influences the way Taras Wolf approaches music. For him, architecture and music are deeply connected disciplines built around rhythm, emotion, balance, tension, contrast, and human experience.
Whether designing a residence, curating a spatial experience, or producing a melody, the ultimate goal remains the same: to create something people can emotionally connect with and remember.
The Master Designer: More Than Just Architecture
To understand the music, you have to understand the mind behind it. Taras Wolf is widely celebrated as a visionary Australian architect known for high end residential design and multidisciplinary creativity, but his creative roots spread far deeper than blueprints and buildings.
With an extensive background spanning painting, sculpture, graphic design, and photography, Taras is a true polymath. For 15 years, he was also a professional ballroom dancer, training, competing, and coaching internationally, even running his own dance school in the late1990s.

A Vintage Foundation: The 1980s Synthesiser Obsession
While the public release of this music is new, the foundation was laid decades ago. As a young creative in the 1980s, Taras got his first keyboard, sparking an obsession with synthesisers that continues to this day. He was fascinated by how a single instrument could emulate a piano, a guitar, or an entirely new digital electronic sound.
During his youth, he enjoyed the thrill of playing keyboards in various high school bands, soaking up the cool energy of the stage. But by the late 80s, he instinctively felt a stronger urge to step away from playing covers and begin creating his own original compositions.
As synthesisers evolved into complete workstations with built in drum machines and sequencers, Taras became a one man band. Inspired by digital groups like the Pet Shop Boys, he spent countless late nights crafting original instrumental tracks and Latin Ballroom tunes for his own floor shows.
Over the years, Taras amassed close to a hundred original tunes, carefully stored away on floppy disks and demo tapes. While adult life and a thriving architectural practice eventually took priority, his love for the design and aesthetics of synthesisers never faded.
At its peak, his meticulously curated collection of rare, mint condition vintage synthesisers was over 50 strong. Today, having sold off about half, he retains a highly refined collection of his absolute favourite pieces.
AI as the Ultimate Design Tool
For decades, those brilliant early tracks lived a quiet life. While Taras still loved those old tunes and had successfully transferred them from analogue tapes to digital formats, the raw tracks sounded a bit basic by modern standards. For years, they functioned nicely as background elevator music. In fact, they served as the signature original hold music for clients waiting on the line when calling Wolf Architects.
But today, through the power of AI, Taras is bringing these original tunes out of the background and back to life. With speed and ease, those dusty tracks are being polished, expanded, and elevated to the next level with the addition of vocals.
Naturally, the idea of AI assisted music can draw scepticism. But Taras makes a compelling, architecturally grounded argument for embracing it.
The Evolution of Tools
When purely digital acts like the Pet Shop Boys emerged with just a singer and a keyboardist, purists scoffed. Critics claimed it was not a real band and lacked soul because it did not use traditional instruments. Yet, their sound defined a generation.
Just as calculators and the internet were initially met with resistance, AI is simply the next step in technological evolution.
The Architect and Staff Analogy
As the artistic director of Wolf Architects, a Melbourne based luxury architecture studio, Taras no longer does much physical drawing. A team of skilled architects and designers use complex software that Taras openly admits he would not know how to navigate.
Yet, he oversees the work, guiding the direction and making the crucial aesthetic decisions. In essence, the human team functions much like a biological AI, processing his vision and following orders. The final design remains unmistakably his, even if he did not physically draw a single line.
A Dying Skill Revived by Results
Furthermore, very few young architects today can still draw properly by hand. It is a dying skill, yet no one seems to mind. As long as the finished building is spectacular, no one asks whether the architect drew it with a pencil or if a team rendered it on a computer.
Taras believes that, in time, public opinion will view AI music the exact same way.
Expanding the Creative Window
In the real world, whether designing a home or a song, projects are often abandoned simply because resources or deadlines run out. AI provides the extra time, space, and efficiency needed to push a creative vision closer to perfection.
A Deep Respect for True Artistry
It is vital to be absolutely clear on one point: Taras holds immense respect for true artists gifted with the physical ability to sing and play instruments. That raw talent is truly special, and this project is not about taking anything away from them.
While legends like Michael Jackson and Madonna may not be known for sitting behind a piano, they possessed extraordinary voices, unmatched dance skills, and a profound understanding of style. Taras readily admits he does not possess those specific abilities, and it would take years of intense training to even come slightly close.
But why should a lack of physical ability disadvantage a creative mind?
If a person lacks the vocal cords to sing perfectly, or perhaps does not have the hands or fingers to play a guitar, they should still be able to feel music and design it. As long as you have the ears to know what you want to hear, AI provides the bridge between imagination and reality.
The Joy of Creation
Having said all of this, Taras makes absolutely no claim that his music is a masterpiece. He is not trying to compete with lifelong professionals.
Primarily, the music he produces is joyful to him. His songs make him happy, they move him emotionally, and he is entirely comfortable if others feel his tracks are nothing compared to the work of a true professional who has been playing music their entire life.
He is simply excited to have another technological solution to express his creativity and share that joy with the world.
The Mathematics of Melody and the Human Heart
Taras approaches his musical compositions with a unique dualistic philosophy.
1. Music is Pure Mathematics
Because the human ear can only perceive a limited range of frequencies, and there are only so many notes and chords, every melody technically already exists in a mathematical sense.
The art of the composer is to channel those existing frequencies into our current space and time. Even the human voice, with all its wonder, is a biological instrument bound by science.
2. Emotions are Infinite
While the maths of music is finite, human emotion is boundless. Because of this, Taras insists on writing 100% of his own lyrics, with zero AI assistance.
Whether he is continuing the story of a vintage 80s track or starting from a completely blank mind, the words are uniquely his. They might be funny, true, fictional, or wonderfully cheesy, but they are always meaningful and purposefully designed to strike an emotional chord.

How Music Influences Creative Design at Wolf Architects
Music has always been part of the atmosphere inside Wolf Architects. From early concept development to late night design sessions, carefully curated soundscapes often play throughout the studio.
Taras believes music influences mood, rhythm, focus, and emotional perception in much the same way architecture shapes how people experience physical space.
In many ways, both architecture and music are emotional design disciplines. One is experienced through space, light, proportion, and materiality. The other through rhythm, melody, energy, and emotion.
For Taras, both are ultimately about creating experiences people can feel.
What to Expect from Music_by_Wolf
We are starting our musical rollout with a focus on where we feel most at home: the creative studio.
Phase 1: The Studio Sessions
Our initial releases on YouTube will feature highly polished original instrumental tracks. These are the exact tunes we play in the background at Wolf Architects when our team is hard at work. They are designed to stimulate creativity and focus.
Phase 2: The Vocal Expansion
Moving forward, we will expand our catalogue to include fully realised songs with Taras’s original lyrics.
Expect a diverse, genre spanning collection that includes upbeat dance and electronic synth pop, heartfelt country, atmospheric chill and lo fi, and avant garde experimentally designed music.
