There are no easy projects.

At WOLF Architects we are often asked about the projects that we are working on, or how busy we are. Since the start of the practice there has never been a quiet moment. Whilst this is not necessarily evident the in number of projects that we are working on, it does reflect our character and attitude towards all that we do.

The clients that we attract are those that want the most out of their projects. It may be maximum space, happiness, sustainability or yield and profit. When combined with WOLF Architects desire for authenticity, beauty and innovation; the brief for every project is extremely invariably tall. It’s because of these factors that we have never experienced a so called “Easy project”. Even on the most generous sites or budgets there will be limitations that challenge us.

It would be very easy to advise our clients to simplify their expectations, as in many situations the client can be rather unrealistic. However, a WOLF product prides itself in being of exceptional value, leading us often down a path less travelled, but far more exciting. Where we see a way, we never shy away from travelling that path. Its an attitude that is instilled in every WOLF designer and something that our founder Mr Taras WOLF had as a student of architecture.

By the time Taras Wolf was admitted into the University of Melbourne he was already a highly skilled designer having spent thousands of hours in his father’s architectural department during his youth. He found the assignments during his architectural studies to be very easy. Where they were asked to draw in pencil he did both in pencil and ink. Where a physical model was to be built out of white cardboard, Taras went further and laminated the model in multiple layers and colours. This attitude of pushing beyond the norm and what was required has been key to WOLF Architects success today. People should not use architects just to get exactly what they had in mind. They should be using architects to go beyond what they had in mind. That is exactly what happens at WOLF Architects.

Not only is every project expected to surpass our client’s expectations but they should also exceed similar projects we have done previously. As such there is never an easy project.

The model is made out of box-board that has been laminated with coloured paper in an interlocking pattern that is 1 layer thick so everything is flush/ level, including the label. Even the base was not a requirement of the assignment but Taras chose to add it for a more complete project.
